Box Score FREDERICK, Md.—The Hood College women's basketball team (8-16) fell to visiting Trinity University (D.C) (8-8) at the Odom Fitness Center at Fort Detrick Friday evening. The Blazer women honored seniors Kameran Evans and Allyson Lethbridge, who played their final game in a Hood uniform, before the contest.
Trinity's offense left the Blazers trailing in the first six minutes with a seven-point margin. Honored seniors, Evans and Lethbridge, closed the gap with help from sophomores Heather Boyce and Emily Maerz, evening the score at 15-15 in the middle of the half. The Blazer women fought tough to keep the score close and ended the half down by five.
Hood could not withstand the offense of the Trinity women and fell to an 18-point deficit with 8:30 left in the second half. The Blazers stayed strong and closed the gap to eight after a steal at midcourt by Lethbridge who passed it to sophomore Dyanna Prater for three. Lethbridge contributed another three and Maerz ended the game with a layup, but the Blazers came up short, falling 69-63.
The Tigers held a sizeable rebounding advantage in this one, grabbing 52 boards to the Blazers' 37. Trinity also capitalized on numerous second-chance opportunities after hauling in 24 offensive caroms.
Lethbridge finished with 15 points and two steals, while Prater led the Blazers with 16 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and four steals. Evans contributed seven points, two rebounds and three assists in her farewell game.
