WINCHESTER, Va.--Junior Emily Schrodel of the Hood College women's tennis team (2-2) was a winner at singles and doubles Saturday as the Blazers defeated the host Shenandoah University Hornets (2-2), 7-2, in their first match of the spring season.
Schrodel hung on to topple Briana Malley at second singles, 6-3, 3-6, 11-9, and teamed with Emily Maerz to down Malley and Carla Wong, 8-3, at first doubles.
Kameran Evans also won her singles match at the No. 3 spot over Aliisa Altau, 6-4, 6-6 (7-4).
The No. 2 doubles duo of Casey Miller and Laura Saad were victorious over Altau and Kelsey Brewster, 8-3.
Hood also earned three points in the match via forfeit.
Hood is back in action Sunday at Capital Athletic Conference nemesis the University of Mary Washington at 5 p.m.
