FREDERICK, Md.--Sophomore Emily Maerz of the Hood College women's tennis team (2-5, 0-2 CAC) cruised to victory at first singles and combined with teammate Emily Schrodel to win at first doubles Sunday in a 6-3 setback to Capital Athletic Conference foe Stevenson University (3-3, 1-0 CAC).
Maerz improved to 5-2 in singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Wendy Ogbolu and together with Schrodel toppled Maura Bernstein and Julie Strong by a count of 8-3 at first doubles.
Junior Casey Miller downed Jordan Rupard, 6-4, 10-5, at fifth singles for Hood's third point of the afternoon.
The Blazers continue CAC play Thursday at York College (Pa.) at 3:30 p.m.
