FROSTBURG, Md.--Sophomore Emily Maerz of the Hood College women's tennis team (3-7, 1-4 CAC) earned a straight-set victory at first singles and teamed up with senior Kameran Evans to win at first doubles in a 7-2 Capital Athletic Conference loss to Frostburg State University (4-6, 2-3 CAC) Sunday afternoon.

Maerz rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Sarah Stephens for Hood's lone singles win of the match. Maerz improved to 7-3 in singles action and 3-2 against CAC opponents.

Maerz and Evans dispatched Stephens and Vicky Stafford, 8-2, at first doubles for their first win as a doubles duo this season.

The Blazers have three nonconference matches left on their schedule, beginning with a Tuesday date with Harford Community College. Hood will also host CAC foe St. Mary's College (Md.) this week in a date to be determined, which will determine their final seed in the league standings.
