FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's tennis team (3-9, 1-6 CAC) finished the Capital Athletic Conference portion of its spring season hosting York College (11-6, 6-2 CAC) and St. Mary's College (9-10, 5-3 CAC) in back-to-back matches on Friday evening at Baker Park.
Emily Maerz led the Blazers in the twinbill, winning her doubles and singles matches against both teams. Against York, Maerz teamed up with Emily Schrodel for a doubles match win over Sarah Wargo and Katelyn Acker, 8-6. Maerz also beat Wargo in a singles victory, 8-0.
In the match-up against St. Mary's, Maerz and Kameran Evans defeated Marie Rau and Sarah Minkoff, 8-1, and Maerz blanked Rau in her singles match, 8-0.
Maerz improved to 9-3 in singles play and 5-2 against CAC foes. Maerz and Schrodel went undefeated against CAC doubles tandems at 4-0.
Hood has three nonconference matches remaining on the spring schedule, beginning with a match Monday at Gettysburg College at 4 p.m. The Blazers will also host Trinity University Wednesday and travel to Wilson College on April 27.
