Box Score YORK, Pa.- The Hood College women's basketball team (5-14, 1-10 CAC) was beaten by York College (Pa.) (16-3, 10-1 CAC) in a lopsided loss for the Blazers. Hood was never able to get much going against the second-place Spartans, who have now won six Capital Athletic Conference games in a row dating back to the last time they played the Blazers to start the streak.
Junior guard Dyanna Prater led the blue-and-grey scoring 14 points. Prater also grabbed four boards, dished out three assists and had two steals to fill up the stat sheet as she normally does. Junior Emily Maerz made one three point shot to give her a long range make in 15 consecutive games while scoring five points on the day. Freshman Briana Lee also chipped in with six points.
The Blazers were just never able to find the basket on a night when its opponent could not miss. York had two starters score 20 points and had 12 different players score in the contest. York's leading scorer April Sparkman continued her scoring ways putting up 24 for the Spartans. Kristen Haley also had a huge game with 22 points and ten rebounds to record a double-double.
York got off to a quick start in the get go going on a 10-0 run to begin the game and digging Hood into an insermountable hole. Prater's made layup at the 9:19 mark put the Blazers down just eight points with the score 22-14. Hood kept the score around eight until York went on a 13-2 run that was capped by a Haley layup with 32.0 seconds remaining until intermission.
Hood was never closer than 18 in the second half as the Spartans were able to win going away.
The Blazers return to the court this Wednesday to take on the Frostburg State University Bobcats in a CAC tilt with the tip off at 6 p.m.
