Frostburg State Nips Hood Women's Tennis, 5-4

FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's tennis team (7-11, 2-5 CAC) dropped a heartbreaking 5-4 Capital Athletic Conference decision to the Frostburg State University Bobcats (5-9, 3-4 CAC) Thursday afternoon at Baker Park.

The loss temporarily placed Hood into a tie with Stevenson University for the sixth and final playoff spot; however, since the Blazers lost to the Mustangs earlier this year head-to-head, the Mustangs win the tiebreaker and will own the No. 6 seed in the CAC tournament.

Emily Maerz (No. 1), Sandra Dziadas (No. 4) and Mabie Tun (No. 6) were all winners at singles in straight sets, while Maerz and Kirsten Friend downed first doubles tandem Megan Martin and Nicole Absher, 8-4, for Hood's lone doubles point.

The Blazers have completed their 2012 spring schedule.
