WASHINGTON, D.C.--The Hood College women's tennis team (1-3) lost to the undefeated Catholic University Cardinals (5-0) by a count of 7-2 Sunday afternoon in nonconference action.
Emily Maerz upped her singles record to 3-1 on the season with a 6-0, 6-0 defeat of Margie Selinger at No. 1. Mabie Tun played a marathon match with her opponent at No. 5, Rosemary Montani, falling in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 8-10.
In doubles play, Maerz and Olivia Hosch edged Caitlin Porter and Isabel Tanco, 9-8, at No. 1 to remain undefeated as a doubles tandem at 4-0. Sandra Dziadas and Aubrey Fetters dropped a close 9-7 decision to Emma Needham and Maria Notarianni at No. 2.
The Blazers will resume their suspended match with Shepherd University from Thursday this coming Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 4:30 p.m. at the Hood Tennis Courts.
