FREDERICK, Md. - Jessie Herbert (Sykesville, Md. / Century) led Hood with two goals and added an assist as the Blazers defeated the Gallaudet Bison 4-0. 

Herbert started off the scoring in the 11th minute, when she gathered up a loose ball outside the 18-yard box and floated a shot over the keeper's head. Her second goal came in the 50th minute, when a corner bounced around in the box and she put it off the bottom of the crossbar and in to make it 3-0. 

Angelia Miller (Frederick, Md. / Gov. Thomas Johnson) made the score 2-0 in the 29th minute when a cross from Dorothy Hearn (Kingsville, Md. / Perry Hall) went by everyone including the keeper, and Miller easily put the ball into the empty net. 

Nicole Jouan (Baltimore, Md. / Catonsville) scored the fourth and final Blazer goal off a pass from Herbert, and Jouan had a beautiful strike into the top right corner from 20 yards out. 

Herbert scored her team-leading fourth and fifth goals of the year, and her third game-winning goal of the year. Her attempt for the hat trick was denied by the crossbar in the 63rd minute. 

Leah Norris (Bryans Road, Md. / Lackey) made one save in her second shutout of the year. It occured on a breakaway and Norris caught the high shot. 

Hood had 28 shots and the stout defense held the Bison to only one shot. Jennifer Livengood made eight saves in the effort. 

The Blazers look to make it three-straight in their Commonwealth Conference home opener against Arcadia on October 5, as part of homecoming on Hood's campus.
