Women’s Soccer battles to draw with Wolves

READING, Pa – The women's soccer team went on the road Saturday afternoon to battle the Golden Wolves of Alvernia University, in a hard fought battle that ended in a 0-0 tie.

Inside the Box Score

Zoey Hicks (Halethorpe, Md./Catonsville) and Elizabeth Poulson (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) led the team with two shots in the contest.

Sara Yeich (Middletown, PA/Middletown Area) had one shot on goal.

Hannah Loughry (Odenton Md./Arundel Senior) provided two saves in goal for the Blazers.

How it Happened

The Blazers looked to separate earlier into the contest, as Zoey Hicks (Halethorpe, Md./Catonsville) would fire off a cross into the box for teammate Rebecca Perez (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park) who had a good chance at a goal off a header but missed high of the net.

Hicks looked to stay on the attack for the Blazers offense as she fired off a shot that was just wide left of the goal.

Just two minutes after the Hicks goal attempt, Jen Vasquez (Westminster, Md./Westminster) would find Elizabeth Poulson (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) who looked to give Hood the advantage, but her shot was wide right of the goal.

Heading into the second half, the Blazers and Wolves were deadlocked with no team having the clear advantage.

Alvernia would look to match Hood's aggressive offensive approach earlier into second half with a shot of their own, but Hannah Loughry (Odenton Md./Arundel Senior) would stand firm in goal with a save.

Sara Yeich (Middletown, PA/Middletown Area) would look for the back of the net but was unable to connect to give Hood the edge.

Hannah O'Guin (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) would dribble around a Wolves defender with a clear shot at the top left of the goal, but the Wolves goalie would capture the save.

As seconds ran off on the clock, the Golden Wolves would try one more shot attempt on Loughry in goal who would stand firm one more time for the Blazers capturing another save and ending the contest in a draw.
