BALTIMORE - Hood College won its final dual of the fall season with a 7-2 win on the road at Notre Dame (Md.).
The match was the Blazers' final tune up before the MAC Individual Championships on October 5-6 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
Olivia Hosch (Newport, R.I. / Cushing Academy), Mable Tun (Frederick, Md. / Frederick) and Kendra Laster (Keedysville, Md. / Boonsboro) all won twice for Hood.
Hosch and Tun teamed at second doubles to shut out Carrie Naylor and Natalie Smith, 8-0. Laster and Meaghan Donahue (Walkersville, Md. / Walkersville) paired for an 8-6 third doubles victory against Megan Kemp and Shawneka Freeman that sent the Blazers to singles play with a 2-1 advantage.
Hood won five of the six singles matches to clinch the victory, with four wins coming in straight sets and the fifth via a pro set.
Hosch was a 6-2, 6-3 winner against Celeste Holmes-Tate at first singles. Sandra Dziadas (Long Pond, Pa. / Pocono Mountain West) knocked off Elizabeth Tran 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. At third singles, Tun dropped just one game as she defeated Naylor 6-1, 6-0. Aubrey Fetters (Frostburg, Md. / Bishop Walsh) doubled up Kemp 8-4 in a pro set at fourth singles. In action at sixth singles, Laster notched a 6-1, 6-1 final against Zanobia Jones.
The Blazers wrap up the fall season at 2-3.
