ANNVILLE, Pa.--Emily Maerz and Olivia Hosch of the Hood College women's tennis team (2-11, 0-5 Commonwealth) extended their winning streak at first doubles to four in a row and improved to 3-2 versus league opponents in a 7-2 Commonwealth Conference defeat at the hands of Lebanon Valley College (10-6, 4-1 Commonwealth) Saturday afternoon.
Maerz and Hosch downed Christie Graf and Amelia Capuano, 8-5, for their 11th doubles win of the season. At first singles, Maerz won the first set versus Graf, 6-2, and was winning 4-1 in the second set before Graf retired, giving Maerz her 11th singles win of the season. She also improves to 3-2 opposite conference foes.
Hood has a pair of home matches remaining next week, against Harford Community College Thursday at 3 p.m. and Lycoming College Saturday at 1 p.m. The Blazers will recognize seniors Nalla Tejera, Augusta Spandler and Maerz before Thursday's match.
