DALLAS, Pa. - The Hood women's swimming team fell today to Misericordia 148-111 in Middle Atlantic Conference swimming action this afternoon.
Four Blazers won individual races on the day: Lauren Fogarty (Arnold, Md. / Broadneck), Hayley Rogers (Jefferson, Md. / Brunswick), Ashley Griffin (Littlestown, Pa. / Delone Catholic), and Shannon McHale (Hauppauge, N.Y. / Hauppauge). Fogarty won the 1000-yard freestyle by 31 seconds in a time of 11:18.85. Rogers won the 50 free, touching the wall in 26.22. Griffin followed suite with a win in the 100 free in 56.63. McHale rounded out the victories with a time of 2:20.12 in the 200-yard backstroke.
Fogarty also added two second place finishes in the 200-yard butterfly (2:22.56) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:25.37). Anne Lessard (Natick, Mass. / Natick) also recorded two second place finishes, with her first in the 200 backstroke behind McHale in a time of 2:20.96. She picked up her other in 100 butterfly with a time of 1:09.09.
McHale added a second, as well, finishing the 100 back in 1:03.30. Sydney Langer (Falls Church, Va. / Falls Church) was behind Fogarty in the 1000 free with a time of 11:49.17. Griffin placed second in the 200 free, touching the wall in 2:03.29. Caitlin Fay (Henrico, Va. / Mills E. Godwin) just missed out on winning the 500 free by 0.61 with a time of 5:33.62.
McHale and Griffin added thirds to their first and second place perfomances, in the 100 butterfly and 50 free, respectively. McHale finished in 1:12.65 and Griffin touched the wall in 26.57. Fay placed third in the 200 free with a time of 2:06.70. Lindsay Cronin (Arlington, Va. / Washington & Lee) added a third in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:58.72.
The Blazers will travel to Lebanon Valley on February 1, for their last regular season meet.
