Norris Ties Assist Record in Win

Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senior Samantha Norris (Frederick, Md. / Governor Thomas Johnson) tied her own school record with four assists to lead Hood College to a 7-0 win at Gallaudet.

Norris assisted on four consecutive goals to tie her own mark, set in 2012 against Trinity (D.C.). It also moved her into a tie for fourth place at Hood with 11 career assists.

She assisted on both of Jessie Herbert's (Sykesville, Md. / Century) goals and the first of Nicole Jouan's (Baltimore, Md. / Catonsville) two scores.

The Blazers struck almost immediately. Brittni Souder (Union Bridge, Md. / Walkersville) passed to Jill Heymann (Hackettstown, N.J. / Warren Hills Regional), who scored her fifth goal of the season just 35 seconds into the match from 20 yards out.

At the end of the 24th minute, Alyssa Nubgaard (Poolesville, Md. / Poolesville) scored her eighth goal of the year. She took a pass from Angelia Miller (Frederick, Md. / Governor Thomas Johnson) on the right side and shot low to the far post.

Norris assisted on the next two goals to give Hood a 4-0 lead at halftime. The senior took a pair of corners that set up headers by Dorothy Hearn (Kingsville, Md. / Perry Hall) and Jouan.

Herbert benefitted from Norris' third and fourth assists. The junior struck in the 51st minute and scored her second goal off another Norris corner. The Blazers scored on 3-of-7 corners in the game.

Jouan finished the scoring with her second goal of the night in the 67th minute.

Alexis Andrukat (Smithsburg, Md. / Smithsburg) and Leah Norris (Bryans Road, Md. / Lackey) split time in goal. Andrukat had one save in the first half and Norris stopped one Bison shot in the second half.

With four points in the game, Herbert moved into fifth place all-time at Hood with 33 points and now has six goals this season, the highest total of her career.

Jennifer Livengood made 14 saves for Gallaudet.

Hood outshot the Bison 37-6.

The Blazers' seven goals in the game were their most since scoring eight against Trinity (D.C.) in 2012.

The clean sheet gives Hood back-to-back shutouts for the first time since the final two matches of the 2010 season.

Albright visits Thomas Athletic Field for the start of Commonwealth Conference play on October 4.
