WINCHESTER, Va. - The Hood College women's tennis team dropped its opening match of the spring season to Shenandoah at Winchester Country Club, 9-0. 

The closest matches came at fourth and sixth singles. At fourth singles Mable Tun (Frederick, Md. / Frederick) fought hard in the first set but could not hang on, losing 7-5, 6-2 to Rachel Gross. Kendra Laster (Keedysville, Md. / Boonsboro) lost to Alayna McEathron 8-6.

Olivia Hosch (Newport, R.I. / Cushing Academy) battled against Molly Barb at first singles, but fell 6-2, 6-4.

The Blazers fell in all three doubles matches by scores of 8-2. 

Hood returns to action on March 23 with a trip to St. Mary's (Md.).
