With the win, Hood is off to a 4-1 start, the best start on record in school history.

The Blazers had just two shots, and the Vixens one during extra time before a Sweet Briar before Hood was awarded a penalty stroke. Richardson lined it up and shot into the middle right of the cage, for the game-winner.

Sweet Briar had just one shot during regulation, but it put them ahead 1-0 in the 30th minute. The Vixens' Allison McLamb sent a pass forward and Rachel Lenihan outraced the keeper to the ball at the top of the circle. Lenihan's momentum carried her towards the now empty cage for the goal.

Hood attempted 16 penalty corners in the game. In the 69th minute, the Blazers had a scoring chance with a breakaway, but the Vixens' keeper came out of goal to thwart the attempt. The team outshot Sweet Briar 19-2.

The Blazers have scored 20 goals in just five games this season, already topping last year's season total of 15.
