FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's basketball team fell to Lebanon Valley in a defensive struggle, 57-38, in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action.

Allie Appleby (Bel Air, Md. / C. Milton Wright) led the Blazers with eight points in the game. Arianna Delerme (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township) had six rebounds and Verkia Smith (Waldorf, Md. / North Point) added three steals. 

Alexis Briscoe (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) blocked three shots in the contest, with Jasmine Webster (Warrenton, Va. / Kettle Run) rejecting two shots off the bench. 

A lay up by Briscoe at the end of the first quarter brought the Blazers within 16-10 heading into the second period. The Dutchmen added five points to their lead and took a 28-17 lead into halftime. 

Four straight points by Smith in the third quarter cut Hood's deficit to 30-22 with 6:40 left in the period. Hilary Yoh scored on LVC's next possession to start a 12-3 run that extended the lead to 42-25 entering the fourth quarter. 

Taylor Umbrell scored a game-high 11 points and had eight rebounds. Rachel Kelly also had eight boards in the game. Lexie Lantz came off the bench for 10 points and four blocked shots. Bridget Rother dished out five assists. 

Hood travels to Eastern Mennonite on December 19 for a 1 p.m. tip off.
