CHESTER, Pa. - Hood College dropped a Commonwealth Conference contest at Widener, 20-5.

Shay Braithwaite (Montgomery Village, Md. / Watkins Mill) scored twice and and added three ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover. Christina Murphy (Denville, N.J. / Morris Knolls) had a goal and an assist in the game. Courtney Hayes (Columbia, Md. / Chapelgate Christian Academy) caused two turnovers. In goal, Lauren Couch (Crownsville, Md. / Old Mill) made 11 saves and had four ground balls.

Hood trailed 3-0 when Braithwaite put the Blazers on the scoreboard with just over 23 minutes left in the half. Widener scored four more goals before Taylor McGaughey (New Market, Md. / Oakdale) fed Murphy to make the score 7-2 with 16 minutes remaining in the first half. With 8:24 left in the half, Braithwaite's second goal kept Hood within reach at 9-3, but the Pride tacked on five more goals before halftime.

The Blazers received second half goals from Anne Lessard (Natick, Mass. / Natick) and Jade Locklear (Baltimore, Md. / Chesapeake).

Kelsey Powell finished with seven points for Widener on four goals and three assists. She also led all players with four caused turnovers and mathced Megan Capobianco's five draw controls. Meghan Garvey tallied three goals and three assists for six points. Jamie Hills (2g, 3a) had five points and Kristen Bate score four times. 

Meghan Dunn got the start in goal and made one save in 30 minutes.

Hood travels to Messiah on April 1.
