Blazers Taken Down by Crusaders

READING, Pa. - The Hood College women's lacrosse team dropped a Commonwealth Conference contest at Alvernia, 15-2.

Jade Locklear (Baltimore, Md. / Chesapeake) and Anne Lessard (Natick, Mass. / Natick) each scored a goal apiece for the Blazers. Locklear also contributed an assist. Lauren Couch (Crownsville, Md. / Old Mill) made nine saves in goal.

The Crusaders opened the first half with a seven goal run. Locklear got Hood on the board at 8:28 off a free position shot for a 7-1 deficit. Alvernia had a final goal for for a 8-1 lead at halftime.

Alvernia scored two goals in the first five minutes of the second half. Lessard found the back of the net off an assist from Locklear at 24:13 for Hood's final goal of the day to make it 10-2. The Crusaders closed out the game with a five-goal run, claiming the win, 15-2.

Alvernia's Julie Sutton paced the team with four goals on the day. Close behind her were teammates Abby McCarthy and Angel Adams with three goals apiece. Candace Knight and Brooke Campione led the Crusaders in grounds balls, each picking up four. Knight also won five draw controls in the contest. Kallie Taylor made five saves in goal.

Hood hosts Southwestern (Texas) on April 12 at 11 a.m.
