Shay Braithwaite (Montgomery Village, Md. / Watkins Mill) led the Blazers with two goals. Jade Locklear (Baltimore, Md. / Chesapeake) had three draw controls, two ground balls and caused one turnover. Aleyna Fitz (Brunswick, Md. / Brunswick) had a game-high five ground balls and added one goal. Anne Lessard (Natick, Mass. / Natick) notched three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Lauren Couch (Crownsville, Md. / Old Mill) made 17 saves in goal and had three ground balls.
Albright opened the scoring one minute into the first half, and Braithwaite tied the game less than a minute later, 1-1, with 28:19 to go. The Lions rebounded with a four-goal run to pull ahead 5-1 at 22:48.
Braithwaite found the back of the net 30 seconds later off a free position attempt (5-2). Albright ended the period with a six-goal run to lead 11-2 at halftime.
Albright had three early goals to start the second half, making a 14-2 disadvantage for the Blazers. Brigid Ayer (Frederick, Md. / Frederick) had an 8-meter goal with 19:54 remaining, and the Lions added their final goal halfway through the period to make it 15-3.
Hood had a three-goal run in the final three minutes started by a goal by Derian Le (Frederick, Md. / Gov. Thomas Johnson) at 3:18 (15-4). Fitz and Locklear added the final two goals with one minute remaining, but Albright's early runs claimed the win.
Jacqui Montague led the Lions with six goals, two assists and three ground balls. Erin Farell added four goals. Mariah Cullen had six draw controls, four ground balls, two goals, and caused one turnover. Amanda Smith added four draw controls and two goals. Emily Hutson made three saves in goal during the first half and Hayley Joyce stopped one shot in relief.
The Blazers closed out the season with 30 free position goals, breaking the previous team record of 27, set in 2012. Braithwaite broke the individual free position goal record with 12. Couch made 211 saves this season, third most in season history and just five goals short of her own record. The junior also has the sixth most ground balls in a single season with 61. Locklear is fourth in the record book with 60 draw controls this season.
