WASHINGTON, D.C. - Making her season debut, sophomore Alyssa Nubgaard (Poolesville, Md. / Poolesville) made her presence felt with a hat trick in a 5-1 win at Gallaudet.

It was the first hat trick for the Blazers in five years. 

The Bison struck first, with a goal from Justina Ercolino in the 15th minute, but the Blazers would not allow another shot in the contest.

After Jessie Herbert (Sykesville, Md. / Century) tied the game in the 31st minute, Nubgaard would score twice in a nine-minute span. The sophomore scored in the 35th minute, then again at the end of the 44th minute for a 3-1 lead at the half. Both of Nubgaard's first half markers were assisted by Kaycee Miller (Frederick, Md. / Gov. Thomas Johnson).

Ashley Toy (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) extended the lead during the 48th minute to give the Blazers a 4-1 lead. With less than a minute to play, Elisa Botten (Gaithersburg, Md. / Poolesville) found Nubgaard, who finished the play for her first career hat trick.

Each of Hood's goals had meaning. Herbert moved into a fourth place tie in the Blazer records with 19 scores. Nubgaard's big day moved the sophomore into a tie for 10th with 11 goals. The goal by Toy was the first of her career.

In addition to Miller's two assists and one by Botten, Sarah Marcello (Carlisle, Pa. / Boiling Springs) aided on Herbert's goal.

Hood held a commanding 36-2 shot advantage. 

Jennifer Livengood made 12 saves for Gallaudet.

The Blazers will look to stay in the win column when they play their home opener on Monday, September 14 against Shenandoah.
