ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Hood College got a win at second singles from Michelle Shedd (Middletown, Md. / Middletown), but St. Mary's (Md.) defended its home courts otherwise for an 8-1 win.

Shedd took a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Anna Passaniti for the Blazers' only point of the day.

Aubrey Fetters (Frostburg, Md. / Bishop Walsh) and Meaghan Donahue (Walkersville, Md. / Walkersville) had the closest call in doubles, falling 8-2 against Marissa Romanek and Emily Rost.

The Blazers travel to Notre Dame (Md.) on September 22.
