Box Score CHESTER, Pa. - Hood College opened the game with an 11-4 run, but a triple-double by Widener's Ally Ferrucci led the Pride to an 84-55 win in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action.
Taylor McGaughey (New Market, Md. / Oakdale) hit three 3-pointers on her way to 11 points. Alexis Andrukat (Smithsburg, Md. / Smithsburg) finished with 10 points and nine rebounds. Allie Appleby (Bel Air, Md. / C. Milton Wright) dished out four assists.
Ferrucci had 10 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists to notch the rare triple-double for Widener.
Hood opened quickly, getting 3s from Verkia Smith (Waldorf, Md. / North Point), McGaughey and Appleby before an Alexis Briscoe (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) layup made it 11-4 with six minutes and 55 seconds left in the first quarter. The Pride answered with a 10-0 run of their own, claiming a 14-11 advantage less than three minutes later on a layup by Nikki Sutliff.
Widener held a 20-17 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 43-27 at halftime.
Brianna Wylie scored a game-high 21 points for the Pride. She added nine rebounds, three assists and four steals to her afternoon. Sutliff scored 14 points. Sarah Engman had 13 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots.
Hood committed just 15 turnovers, while forcing the Pride into 21. The Blazers went 7-of-24 from 3-point range and limited Widener to just 3-of-14.
Widener won the rebounding battle 61-35 an had 24 second chance points.
The contest concludes the season for the Blazers.
