Box Score

FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College's Lauren Couch (Crownsville, Md. / Old Mill) had her second game of at least 20 saves this season, but Goucher picked up a 14-5 win over the Blazers in non-conference women's lacrosse.

Couch made a season-high 21 saves and had four ground balls. Jade Locklear (Baltimore, Md. / Chesapeake) scored three goals, assisted on another and added five draw controls.

Hood scored first, when Locklear fed Taylor McGaughey (New Market, Md. / Oakdale) for a goal with 24 minutes and 45 seconds left in the first half. The Blazer defense held firm, until a quick three-goal spurt put the Gophers on top. With 7:51 left in the half, Dani McCreary tied the game. By the time the game clock reached seven minutes, the Gophers held a 3-1 lead, thanks to goals from JoJo Franklin and Jessica Borucki.

Two more goals by Goucher made it 5-1 at halftime.

Hood struck first again in the second half. Locklear took an assist from Christina Murphy (Denville, N.J. / Morris Knolls) to cut the lead to 5-2 with 28:12 to play. Goucher, however, went on an 8-1 run over the next 20 minutes to secure the win.

Sophie Smith had four goals and five ground balls for the Gophers. Borucki scored twice and had two assists. Stefi Perry dished out three assists. Franklin had two goals, four draw controls and three caused turnovers. Bridget Den Boer made four saves.

Hood, 4-5 on the season, is idle until traveling to Widener on Apr. 2.
