FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's lacrosse team dropped a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth contest to No. 19 Messiah, 17-3. 

Anne Lessard (Natick, Mass. / Natick) had a goal and an assist to lead the Blazers. Shay Braithwaite (Montgomery Village, Md. / Watkins Mill) and Christina Murphy (Denville, N.J. / Morris Knolls) also scored goals. Taylor McGaughey (New Market, Md. / Oakdale) had an assist and two caused turnovers. Jade Locklear (Baltimore, Md. / Chesapeake) secured five draw controls. Hailey Poisal (Westminster, Md. / Westminster) grabbed three ground balls. Lauren Couch (Crownsville, Md. / Old Mill) made 11 saves. 

The Falcons led 6-0 when McGaughey found Lessard with 15 minutes and 25 seconds left in the first half for Hood's first goal. 

The Blazers broke a nine-goal run with back-to-back scores in the second half. Murphy scored uanassisted with 18:25 to play and Braithwaite followed off an assist from Lessard less than three minutes later to make it 15-3. 

Courtney Wagner had three goals and an assist for Messiah. Shayna Delaney also scored three times. Ida Ehrhardt finished with two goals, an assist, five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Alexa Dipeso made a save in the first half before giving way Ellery Klineyoung in the second half.

Hood travels to Lycoming on Apr. 16.
