FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's tennis team had its four-match win streak halted by Alvernia, 6-3.
It was the Blazers' first loss of the spring as Hood falls to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth.
The third doubles team of Sophie Smith (Freeport, Maine / Freeport) and Bianca Hoch (Frederick, Md. / Urbana) picked up a point for the Blazers with an 8-0 win over Xena Sperrazza and Cassandra Bean.
Hoch picked up her second win of the day with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at sixth singles against Bean. Meaghan Donahue (Walkersville, Md. / Walkersville) won a three-set final over Sperrazza at fifth singles, 5-7, 6-3, 10-7.
Hood travels to Stevenson on Apr. 12.
