Lycoming outlasts women's lacrosse on Senior Day

FREDERICK, Md. - Lycoming's Kelly McGinnis scored a goal less than two minutes into overtime as Hood College fell 14-13 on Senior Day.

How it Happened

  • Kelly McGinniss scored less than a minute into the action but Skorobatsch's two goals started a four-score run for Hood in a three-minute stretch, starting at 24:48. Reeder's first goal of the day made it 4-1 with 21:04 left in the half.
  • Hailey Kimble scored three times in a five-goal run for Lycoming that gave the Warriors a 6-4 edge with 13:34 to go in the half.
  • Lyons scored with 59 seconds on the clock to tie the game at 7-7 but McGinniss found the back of the net with one second left to put Lycoming ahead 8-7 at the break.
  • The Warriors outscored Hood 5-2 over the first 19 minutes of the second half to take a 13-9 lead. 
  • Hood scored the final four goals of the half. Cassidy O'Neill scored with 10:44 left to make it 13-10. Lyons scored the next two to pull the Blazers within a goal with 6:11 remaining. Alexis Orzech took a feed from Lunn at 3:58 to tie the contest.
  • Both teams had chances down the stretch to take the lead. Lunn caused a turnover with just over a minute left and Hood picked up a successful clear before turning it back over to the Warriors. Holt turned away a free position shot with 26 seconds left and a desperation shot by Lycoming with three seconds to go went wide.
  • The Warriors won the opening draw of overtime and after a shot by Kimble was wide, McGinniss took an assist from Thamina Peti for the game-winner.

  • Before the game, Hood honored seniors Slater, Kara Phoubandith, Lillie Myers and Kayla Parsons for their contributions to the program.
  • McGinniss had five goals, an assist, six ground balls, 15 draw controls and six caused turnovers. Kimble scored five times.
  • Jordyn Altland made five stops in the first half, while Bailey Parchesky saved six in the second half and overtime.
  • Hood finishes the season with a 9-8 record. The Blazers set school records for wins, goals (209), assists (91), points (300) and caused turnovers (158).
