Women's tennis bests Stevenson in season opener

Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's tennis team started its season off with a 5-2 victory over Stevenson in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth play. 

Doubles
  • The two teams split the two contested doubles matches. Megan Carter and Skylar Wright teamed up for an 8-6 win over the duo of Megan Waskiewicz and Esha Kashmiri. 
  • Stevenson's only win of the day in a contested match came at second doubles, where Samantha Zudov and Alexandria Kramer won 8-6 against the pairing of Katie Cautero and Hannah Dumikjan. 
Singles
  • The Blazers swept the top four singles flights but Stevenson picked up a point at fifth singles by default. 
  • Carter won 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 over Waskiewicz at first singles. 
  • Wright was victorious in straight sets at No. 2 singles, defeating Kashmiri 6-2, 6-2. 
  • Cautero picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win at third singles against Zudov. 
  • Dumikjan was a 6-4, 6-4 winner in her collegiate debut at No. 4 against Kramer. 
Notes
  • Hood is 1-0 overall and in the MIddle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth. 
  • Stevenson dropped to 0-1.
