OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Hood College softball was swept in its season-opening doubleheader at Stevenson 4-0 and 9-0.

Inside the Circle
- Belle Bortner threw a complete game in the opener. She struck out two and walked one. Bortner allowed eight hits and four earned runs.
- Wilson started and took the loss in game two, allowing four earned runs in three innings, striking out two.
Stevenson 4, Hood 0
- A two-run single by Megan Hamp gave the Mustangs the lead in the second.
- Stevenson put the game out of reach in the fifth when Kayla Briles had an RBI single and later scored on a double by Morghan Fulton.
- Wilson singled twice and Bortner took the loss.
- Fulton tossed a three-hit shutout, striking out seven. Briles had two hits.
Stevenson 9, Hood 0 (5 innings)
- The Mustangs scored in each of the first four innings and Haley Monahan pitched a six-hit shutout.
- Marissa Heuer had three hits and drove in two for Stevenson. Briles, Sierra Stark and Maddie Bosley had two hits apiece.
- Barthlow had two hits, including a double, for Hood.
Notes
- Hood falls to 0-2 on the season, while Stevenson improves to 2-0.
