Box Score WILKES BARRE, Pa. - On the first day of the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Women's Tennis Championships, four Hood College women's tennis players competed in the opening round of play.
Singles
- Each of the Blazers fell on the first day.
- In the first round of first singles, Katie Cautero drew the brackets number four seed from Jacquelyn McBride of Lebanon Valley. Cautero fell to McBride 6-0 and 6-1.
- At number two singles, Josephine Sasse played two tough sets against Audrey Heaberlin from Stevens. Top-seeded Heaberlin won in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.
- Another Blazer matched up against a Flying Dutchman in the first round of third singles. Riley Cowperthwaite fell in the first round to Madison Poladian, 6-0 and 6-0.
- Katie Driscoll opened the tournament with a match against Lycoming's Hannsh Seebold. Driscoll earned the first-set win, but Seebold was able to make a comeback taking the next two sets to win 1-6, 6-4, 10-5.
Doubles
- Driscoll and Cautero opened play at first doubles against Kirsten Kosa and Nyah Tomlinson of DeSales. The Bulldogs downed the Blazers 8-2.
- At second doubles, Sasse and Cowperthwaite took on the number three seedeBailey Greco and Morgan Landau from DeSales and fell to the pair, 8-0.

The upcoming match against Mary Baldwin has been postponed to the Spring 2022 season. The Blazers will be back in action on October 2 as they host Trinity Washington at 1 p.m.
