FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The Hood College baseball team dropped a non-conference game to Washington College (Md.) by way of a walk-off 4-3.

On the Mound
- Colby Childs started the game for the Blazers and threw five complete innings, allowing one run on three hits.Â
- Gavin Pollard was first out of the bullpen and allowed two runs on three hits in 0.2 innings.Â
- Frank Spaide finished the game throwing 2.2 innings, but his only run allowed was the game winner for the Shoreman in the bottom half of the ninth inning. He took the loss.  Â
At the PlateÂ
Washington College (Md.) 4, Hood 3
- Both starting pitchers were in control for the first four innings, as Childs and the Shoremen's Anthony Sofran only allowed four hits between the two. Childs retired seven batters in a row from the second through the fourth innings and only allowed two hits in that span of four innings.Â
- Hood struck first in the fifth inning. After a Jacob Saylor leadoff walk, and a sacrifice bunt by Schwarzman, Sofran committed an error on a ground ball by AJ Haines that scored Saylor from second base to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead.Â
- Washington College answered right back with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning. Erik Risnychok doubled into the left field gap to score Joe Curtin to tie the game at 1-1.
- The Shoreman took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the sixth. After a leadoff triple by Danny Sheeler, Max Ruvo hit a sacrifice fly to right field to give Washington College the lead. Later in the inning CJ Gillmer singled to center field, but a costly error by Schwarzman scored Curtin to give the Shoreman a 3-1 lead.
- Joe Monteleone led off the seventh inning with a walk. Later in the inning, Schwarzman executed a suicide squeeze to score Monteleone from third to cut the Shoreman lead to 3-2.Â
- In the eighth inning, the Blazers got the first two men on base, and in a first and third situation Reyna hit into a fielder's choice that scored Jenkins from third to tie the game.
- The Shoreman led the off the bottom of the ninth with singles by Curtain and Gillmer, then won the game on a suicide squeeze by Brandon Hoffman to take the game 4-3.    Â
For the OpponentÂ
- Curtin led the Shoreman going 3-for-3, scoring three times and recorded a walk.
- Gillmer ended the day 2-for-3 with a walk.

- Hood falls to 6-8 on the year. Â
- Washington College (Md.) improves to 8-3.
