FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College men's lacrosse team hosted Eastern University in a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth matchup that resulted in a 24-5 score for the Blazers' third straight loss.
Inside the Numbers
- Kyle Scott (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and Colby Gallagher (Coatesville, PA/Bishop Shanahan) led the team with two goals each.
- Jay Lanigan (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack) scored one goal for Hood while Owen McDermott (Wernersville, PA/Conrad Weiser) had one assist.
- Sammy Patnaik (Fairfax, VA/Robinson Secondary) caused a team-high four turnovers and picked up five ground balls.
- In the faceoff circle, Garrett Hitchens (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) went 9-21 while Chris McKiniry (Easton, PA/Easton Area) went 2-4 and Emmanuel Granados won two-out-of-three.

How It Happened
- Eastern scored early and often to begin the first quarter with seven consecutive goals. Connor Killion led the 7-0 run with a first half hat trick, Nate Portrey added two goals while Nicholas Fanelli and Avery Porter both tallied one each to take the lead with 6:01 left in the first.
- Scott scored to end the Eagle scoring streak with an unassisted tally to make the score 7-1 going into the second quarter.
- The Blazers picked up where they left off as Scott netted his second of the game at 12:56 to lessen the lead 7-2 in favor of Eastern.
- The Eagles answered the Scott goals with a four-goal run. Chris Fanelli tallied twice while Nicholas Fanelli, Nick Litzenberger and Killion all netted once each. Fanelli also dished out three assists during the run to push the lead to ten 12-2 with 6:17 on left in the first half.
- Gallagher and Jay Lanigan (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack) answered back with two straight goals for the Blazers both on individual efforts to make the score 12-4 with 5:15 remaining before halftime.
- Porter and Fanelli rounded out the first half scoring with one goal each to thicken the score to 14-4 going into the third quarter.
- Eastern scored six goals in the third quarter and held the Blazers scoreless. Christopher Fanelli, Adam Booz, Luc Trudel, Siam Owen and Litzenberger all contributed to the 6-0 run with one goal to push the lead to 20-4 going into the final quarter.
- Gallagher scored the lone fourth quarter goal for Hood with a nice finish off an assist from McDermott at 11:38 to make the score 20-5.
- Jake Vitone, Connor Bachman, Ryan Drobnick and Booz rounded out the Eagles' scoring to secure the 24-5 victory over the Blazers.
For the Opponent
- Connor Killion led the Eagles with four goals and one assist for five points.
- Nicholas Fanelli, Christopher Fanelli and Nate Portrey all scored three goals each against Hood. Nicholas Fanelli also recorded a team-high three assists.
