FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College's baseball team fell to York (Pa.) 6-2 in a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth contest.
On the Mound
- Jack Martin (Annandale, NJ/North Hunterdon) started the game for the Blazers, allowing three runs on five hits and had five strikeouts, taking the loss. The five strikeouts helped Martin pass Nate Luscombe for the most by a first year student at Hood. He has notched 40 strikeouts on the year.Â
- Frank Spaide (Bensalem, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) allowed three runs on three hits in the eighth inning.Â
- Ryan McCreedy (Sparta, NJ/Pope John XXIII) pitched a perfect ninth inning.
At the Plate
- Keegan Brennan (Lake Wynonah, PA/Nativity BVM) had two of the Blazers' four hits, and scored both runs, going 2-for-3. He also notched a stolen base on the afternoon.
- Jacob Saylor (Walkersville, MD/Walkersville) and Stephen Sommer (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun) each had an RBI in the game.
York (Pa.) 6, Hood 2
- Austin Denlinger singled in the first inning, and Jack Barry was hit by a pitch. Both would later score on an Andrew Santarpia double into left center field, as York took an early 2-0 lead.Â
- Hood cut the lead in half in the third inning. Brennan singled to lead off. He stole second and moved to third when the throw went into center field before Sommer brought him in with a groundout to first.Â
- York got the run back via a Brendan Martin solo homer in the fourth inning, putting the Spartans back up 3-1.Â
- Denlinger singled to lead off the eighth inning, and scored during the next at-bat as Joe Capobianco doubled off the fence in center field. The Spartans' scoring finished as Barry hit a two-run home run over the left field fence, giving York a 6-1 lead.Â
- The Blazers scored their final run of the game in the eighth inning. Brennan led off the inning with a double down the right field line and later scored on a Saylor sacrifice fly into center field.

- Barry and Martin both hit a home run leading to three RBIs.Â
- AJ Vincenzi threw a complete game for the Spartans, allowing two runs on four hits. He struck out five and walked four.
- Capobianco and Santarpia each had a double in the game.
- Denlinger scored twice on a two-hit game.
