Women’s volleyball drops match at Gallaudet

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Hood College women's volleyball team could not solve Gallaudet University, as the Blazers were defeated in straight sets.

The Bison won 25-18, 25-11, 25-19. 

Inside the Box Score
 
MacKenzi Wright (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) led the Blazers with seven kills. 

Jackie Malitzki (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) finished the evening with 13 assists. 

Ashley Donald (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) ended the match with a team-leading 17
digs. 

Ann Ofoegbu (Falling Waters, W.Va./Spring Mills) was credited with four blocks on the night

Anna Daley (Erie, Pa./Harborcreek) collected three aces during the match.
 

How it Happened
 
The Blazers found themselves in a 6-0 hole to start the first set, but four kills from Wright helped get Hood within one point in a 16-15 contest, but the Bison went on a 9-3 run to take the set. 

Hood started off the second set with a 5-2 lead after three kills from Olivia Todd (Charlotte, N.C./Cox Mill), but
the Gallaudet then went on a 13-2 run to take a sizable lead they would not relinquish en route to their second set victory. 

After a back-and-forth start to the third set saw the score tied 5-5,
the Bison 7-0 run to grab the lead. Although back-to-back service aces from Daley helped get the Blazers within two points at 19-17, the Bison closed out the match with a kill from Anya Pothorski. 

For the Opponent
 
Natalie Clayburg led the Bison with nine kills, while also picking up four aces along with Jada Zarembka. 

Ella Gamble
finished the match with 33 assists. 

Nicole Hicks had 12 digs
on the evening. 

Cassidy Perry earned six aces on the night.
