BUENA VISTA, Va. - Hood College's
Kate Haufe (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) had three goals and an assist to lead the field hockey team to its ninth straight win with a 5-0 victory at Southern Virginia.

Haufe's goals and points were season highs for the Blazers. The junior turned in a natural hat trick, scoring the first three goals of the match.
Kylie Roessler (Tewksbury, N.J./Vorhees) and
Bella Butler (Hamilton, Va./Loudoun Valley) also scored for Hood.
Phebe Frost (Glenwood, Md./Glenelg) and
Morgan Hackett (Hampstead, Md./Hereford) added assists.

How it Happened
Haufe got Hood on the board in the eighth minute with an unassisted tally for a 1-0 lead. The Blazers carried the 1-0 lead into the second quarter, when Haufe scored twice in the span of less than four minutes. Midway through the 21st minute, Frost picked up an assist as Haufe made it a two-goal lead. Early in the 25th minute, Hackett had a shot blocked and Haufe punched it in for a 3-0 halftime advantage.
Roessler scored less than three minutes into the third period, with Haufe recording an assist. Butler capped the scoring in the 47th minute.
Analysis
Hood outshot the Knights 56-1, putting 25 shots on cage in the match. The 56 total shots are a program record.
The Blazers were awarded 16 corners in the contest, compared to two for SVU.
For the Opponent
Makaila Gillardo made 17 saves in goal for the Knights, while Jocelyn Moreno, Richelle Chukuong and Rachel Emel notched defensive saves.
Notes
Hood improved to 9-2, while Southern Virginia slipped to 0-7. The nine wins are the most since the program won 10 in 1999.
