Women’s Volleyball swept by Eastern

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Hood College women's volleyball team could not find their groove against Eastern University, as the Blazers fell in three straight sets to the Eagles in a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth match.

Set Scores
The Eagles won 25-14, 25-18, 25-8.

Inside the Box Score
Ann Ofoegbu (Falling Waters, W.Va./Spring Mills) led the team with 10 kills and seven digs on the night.

Ainslee Barger (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) finished the match with 10 assists.

How it Happened
Despite starting the first set down 6-0, the Blazers put together a strong run to make it an 11-10 game. The Eagles, however, would score nine of the next 10 points to take a commanding lead they would not relinquish, as Bridgette Kelly would get the final kill to finish the set.

Madison Powell (Midlothian, Va./Manchester) and Sami Betley (Bel Air, Md./Mercy) would help the Blazers take advantage of some early Eastern mistakes for an early 8-4 lead and would later find themselves up 16-14 after a five-point run capped off with a kill from MacKenzi Wright (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown). Unfortunately, Hood could not keep up the offensive, as the Blazers would only score two more points before Eastern took a 2-0 lead.

Hood would find themselves in a 7-0 hole to start the third set, and a three-point run with kills from Ofoegbu and Wright midway through the set was not enough to spark a comeback run, as the Eagles maintained control the rest of the way until they ended the match.

For the Opponent
Hannah Pringle led the Eagles in kills with 11.

Elle Jiron-Bujanda had 30 assists in the match.

Trinity Gruber served up four aces.
