WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Hood College softball team picked up a 3-2 walk-off win over Wesleyan (Conn.) before falling 8-1 to St. Norbert on the Blazers' first day of their spring break trip to Florida. 
At the Plate
Inside the Circle
	- Rachel Benden (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) picked up the win with a perfect eighth in relief of Jordan Long (Middletown, Md./Middletown). Long tossed the first seven innings, allowing one earned run on seven hits and two walks. She struck out three. 
- Gottleib pitched the second game and took the loss. She allowed three earned runs on eight hits in six innings, striking out four. 
Hood 3, Wesleyan 2 (8 innings)
	- With the score tied 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth, Chloe Saunders (Middletown, Md./Middletown) was placed at second as the international tiebreaker runner. runners on second and third. Gottleib followed with a walk-off single to score Saunders for the winning run. 
- Before that, neither team had scored since the third inning. Isabella Secaira-Castro gave the Cardinals a 2-1 lead with a single that scored Hannah Docktor. The Blazers tied the score in the bottom of the inning on a Pfleiger homer, her third of the season. 
- Docktor scored the game's first run when she led off the game with a single and scored on a base hit by Krissy Gately. 
- The Blazers tied it at 1-1 when Benden led off the second with a base hit and later came home on an RBI single by Mallorie Hetzel (Pasadena, Md./Northeast). 
St. Norbert 8, Hood 1
	- Saunders led off the game with a single and Gottleib drove her in with a sacrifice fly in the first inning, but it proved to be all the offense for the Blazers. 
- St. Norbert scored three in the second, including a two-run double by Grace Engwall to take a 3-1 lead. 
- After another run in the fourth, the Green Knights broke the game open with a four-run fifth. The first six batters reached first in the inning for St. Norbert, including RBI singles by Paige Diercks and Christina Paleka as the Green Knights went ahead 8-1. 
For the Opponents
	- Docktor and Cat Palmer had two hits apiece for Wesleyan. 
- Secaira-Castro pitched a complete game loss for the Cardinals, allowing three runs on seven hits, striking out five. 
- For St. Norbert, Diercks scored three times and had two hits. Nicole Condon also had two hits. 
- Addison Race picked up the win for the Green Knights. She scattered four hits and surrendered just one unearned run.
