FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College baseball team dropped a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth contest to visiting Lebanon Valley 11-1.
At the Plate
- Cristian Reyna (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) hit his first career home run and walked.
On the Mound
- Joe Alexander (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) pitched the first 6.1 innings but took the loss. He was charged with seven runs in 6.1 innings on eight hits and three walks. The senior struck out five.
- Mason Sawyers (Culpeper, Va./Culpeper County) allowed the final four runs and finished the seventh.
- Kevin Nelson, Jr. (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock Twp.) and Quade Gannon (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) each threw a scoreless inning to finish the game.
How it Happened
- A solo home run in the second by Logan Brewer and an RBI double in the fourth off the bat of Ryan Murphy gave the Dutchmen a 2-0 lead.
- Reyna cut the deficit in half with a solo shot to left to lead off the fifth.
- After Brewer answered with a home run in the sixth for LVC, the Dutchmen broke the game open with an eight-run seventh. Shane Stossel started the scoring in the inning with a bases-loaded double to make it 6-1. Conor Smith hit a two-run homer for a seven-run advantage. A double by Duncan Weir knocked in two more before Nico Santoro drove in a run on an RBI single for an 11-1 lead.
For the Opponent
- Brewer went 2-for-5 with two homers, two runs and two RBIs.
- Smith, Murphy and Santoro also had two hits apiece, including a double and home run by Smith.
- Tommy Moore, Jr. allowed just one run on two hits over eight innings for the win.
