WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Hood College men's volleyball fell in straight sets to both Wilkes and King's in a Middle Atlantic Conference tri-match.
Set Scores
- The Colonels defeated the Blazers 25-4, 25-20, 25-10.
- The Monarchs bested Hood 25-8, 25-8, 25-12.

Wilkes 3, Hood 0
- Fitzkee had two kills early the first set, the second of which pulled the Blazers within 5-2. After that Paul Binner had five aces during a run of 17 straight points by Wilkes to take control of the set.
- Hood started strong in the second set, taking its first lead on an ace by Blanchfield to make it 4-3. The Blazers tried to stay in front with a Will Fitch (Upper Marlboro, Md./Frederick Douglass) ace that made it 8-7 and a kill by Brendan Stutz (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) for a 9-8 advantage. It was part of a set that had 15 ties and seven lead changes. Later in the set, Fitch served up another ace to make it 18-16 in favor of Hood, but the Colonels outscored the Blazers 9-2 down the stretch to take the set.
- Fitzkee recorded a kill to tie the third set at 3-3 before Binner served four aces in a row during a 6-0 run to break open the third set.
- Jackson Schafer had 11 kills in 18 attempts (.611). Binner added eight kills in 11 attacks (.727) and finished with nine service aces.
King's 3, Hood 0
- A kill by Will Javier Rojas (Reading, Pa./Reading) pulled Hood within 4-1 in the opening set, but that proved as close as the Blazers would get as the Monarchs steadily pulled away.
- In the second set, a kill by Bartice and a Fitzkee ace cut Hood's deficit to 5-3 early. Joe Herman served up four aces during a subsequent 10-1 run as King's took a 16-4 lead and never looked back.
- Fitch scored a kill in the third set to put the Blazers in front 3-1. Much like the previous set, the Monarchs followed with a run swing the momentum, this time a 10-2 surge that gave King's an 11-4 lead.
- Jared Piontkowski had six kills to lead King's. Ben Maskiell had 13 assists.
