ASTON, Pa. - Hood College's
Will Javier Rojas (Reading, Pa./Reading) and
Marc Fitzkee (York, Pa./Central York) combined for 50 kills as the men's volleyball team erase a two-set deficit to win 3-2 at Neumann in non-conference play.

- The Knights won the first two sets 25-15, 25-15 before the Blazers battled to a 28-26 in the third set. Hood won the final two sets 25-20 and 16-14.Â

- Javier Rojas recorded 26, the most for a Blazer during the program's first season. The first-year student had just eight errors in 56 attacks, finishing the night hitting .321.

How it Happened
- Facing a two-set deficit, Hood opened the third set with a 7-2 run. Fitzkee and Javier Rojas combined for six of the seven points as Fitzkee served up two aces and both players recorded two kills.Â
- Neumann used a 5-0 run to tie the set at 12-12 and took a 15-14 lead on a Christian Johnson service ace.Â
- Another 7-2 run later in the set, finished by a pair of Fitzkee kills, put the Blazers back in front 22-19.Â
- The Knights rattled off five of the next six points and Hood faced match-point 24-23. Will Fitch (Upper Marlboro, Md./Frederick Douglass) stepped up with back-to-back kills to make it 25-24 in favor of the Blazers. It was part of a huge finish to the set to keep the match alive by Fitch, who served up an ace for the 28-26 win to extend the match.Â
- In the fourth set, Javier Rojas had five kills and block during a 10-1 run that turned a 5-2 deficit into a 12-6 lead for Hood.Â
- Neumann chipped away and got within 23-20 on a block by Isaiah Raye-Ryan before a kill and an ace from Fitzkee forced the fifth set.Â
- Three straight kills for Javier Rojas put the Blazers in front 7-3 in the final set.
- Later, after a kill by Fitzkee made it 12-8, three Hood errors and an ace by Raye-Ryan tied the set at 12-12.
- Javier Rojas recorded a kill to put Hood in the lead but a Veryl Burns kill and an error by the Blazers gave the Knights match point.Â
- Hood reclaimed the lead on a Javier Rojas kill and Brendan Stutz's (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) service ace. The Knights did not have an attack error in the fifth set until Gianni Smith could not keep an attack in play to give the Blazers the victory.Â
Analysis
- Hood had 62 kills, a season high, compared to 44 for Neumann.Â
- The Blazers hit .211, while the Knights ended the night at .272.
For the Opponent
- Burns led Neumann with 17 kills and three blocks. He had only three errors in 27 attacks, hitting .519.Â
- TJ McConnell had 12 kills.Â
- Smith dished out 28 assists and Brandon Baskerville added 18 digs.Â
