READING, Pa. - The Hood College women's tennis team picked up its first win of the 2022-23 season with a 7-2 victory at Penn St. Berks in non-conference action.
Doubles
- Hood swept the three doubles points.
- Katie Cautero (Hackettstown, N.J./Lenape Valley) and Kate Haufe (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) scored an 8-1 win over Bel Clayton and Cassie Shoupe at first doubles.
- Cori Mark (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) and Lauren Sheffler (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) were 8-2 winners at second doubles over Alyssa love and Bailey Rocker.
- Ridley Little (Bristol, Va./Virginia) and Em Bentley (Columbia, Md./Mount de Sales Acad.) recorded an 8-3 victory against Sam Hagenbush and Katie Davis at third doubles.
Singles
- The Blazers notched wins at second, third, fourth and fifth singles to picked up the team win.
- Haufe won 6-2, 6-2 against Sallay Thollie at No. 2.
- Mark outlasted Love at third singles, 7-5, 7-6 (7-2).
- At fourth singles, Sheffler claimed a 7-5, 6-1 victory against Rocker.
- Little won at No. 5, 6-0, 6-3 over Hagenbush.
Notes
- It was the first win for Emily Maerz since returning to the head coaching role at Hood. She won 14 times in her first stint from 2014-16.
