FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College softball team dropped both ends of its Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth doubleheader, falling at home to Lebanon Valley 5-1 and 13-0.
At the Plate
- Rebecca Gottleib (Linthicum, Md./North County) finished the day 3-for-6 with an RBI.
- Chloe Saunders (Middletown, Md./Middletown) recorded a two-hit day with a stolen base and scored once.
Inside the Circle
- Gottleib went the distance in game one, taking the loss. She allowed five runs on 10 hits in seven innings. The sophomore struck out seven and walked two.
- Jordan Long (Middletown, Md./Middletown) took the loss in the second game. She started and lasted just 1.1 innings, allowing four runs on four hits with a strikeout. Lindsay Wilson (Pasadena, Md./Annapolis Area Christian School) pitched the remaining 3.2 innings, giving up nine runs, six of which were earned. She allowed 10 hits and four walks and struck out one.
Lebanon Valley 5, Hood 1
- The Dutchmen took control of the game with a four-run first inning. Sam Burns walked and came home on a Julia Craig single up the middle. Following a Lindsey McCurdy walk, Kylie Balthaser hit a three-run homer over the center field fence.
- In the fifth inning, back-to-back hits by McCurdy and Balthaser extended LVC's lead to 5-0.
- Hood got on the board in the seventh inning, as Saunders reached on a fielder's choice and later scored on a Gottleib single up the middle.
Lebanon Valley 13, Hood 0 (5 innings)
- The Dutchmen started fast in the first inning of game two scoring two runs. Burns led off with a single through the right side. Lexi Smith tripled into the left field gap to drive in Burns. Craig knocked in Smith with a ground out, reaching on an error by Mallorie Hetzel (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) in the process.
- Anna Marie Hockman homered with Megan Heard on base, doubling LVC's lead to 4-0 in the second inning.
- The Dutchmen added four runs in the third inning, which was highlighted by a Burns bases-loaded single up the middle that brought home Alden Partyka and Heard. LVC stretched its lead to 8-0 in an error-plagued inning for Hood.
- LVC hit its third home run of the day when Balthaser went over the fence in left for a two-run shot in the fourth inning.
- The Dutchmen added two more runs in the fifth inning to end the game via a mercy rule.
For the Opponent
- Balthaser ended the day going 5-for-6 with two home runs, six RBIs, three runs scored and a walk to lead the Dutchmen.
- Burns went 4-for-6 in the doubleheader with two RBIs, a stolen base and scored twice.
- Smith had a triple in game two, with an RBI and a run scored.
- Hockman hit a two-run homer in game two.
- Craig ended the day with two hits and two RBIs.
- Erin Sinatra pitched a shutout in game two, giving up only four hits and had seven strikeouts.
- Jordan Walter started game one, giving up one run on six hits. She also recorded four strikeouts and two walks in seven innings.

- Hood fell to 7-13 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
- Lebanon Valley improved to 14-4 and 4-0 in the conference.
