Women’s volleyball sweeps Albright

READING, Pa. - The Hood College women's volleyball team picked up its first Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth win of the season, as the Blazers defeated the Lions 3-0.

The Blazers won 25-12, 25-23, 25-22. 

Inside the Box Score 
Ann Ofoegbu (Falling Waters, W.Va./Spring Mills) led the team with 12 kills while equaling Anna Daley (Erie, Pa./Harborcreek) in aces with two. 

Jackie Malitzki (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) finished with a team-high 17 assists. 

MacKenzi Wright (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) ended the night with seven digs. 

Sami Betley (Bel Air, Md./Mercy) collected two blocks over the match. 

How it Happened 
The Blazers took control of the first set quickly, going on a 7-0 run thanks to a couple kills from Ofoegbu and never looked back. 

After a 5-1 start to the second set for the Blazers, capped off by a service ace from Ofoegbu, the Lions battled back to a 20-20. A kill by Wright and a Betley block fueled a 4-1 run that gave Hood set point. After two straight points by Albright, the Blazers forced an attack error to go up 2-0 in the match. 

Wright had two kills during a 6-1 run that erased a 17-16 deficit in the third set as Hood went on for the sweep. 

For the Opponent 
Neve Straff led the Lions with six kills. 

Paola Mejias finished with nine digs and three aces. 

Rachel Etim was credited with three blocks on the night. 

Notes 
Hood improves to 5-10 overall, 1-1 in conference. 

Albright falls to 10-3 overall, 0-2 in conference.
