Both teams started the match with urgency.
Anthony Polio (Germantown, MD/Northwest) took an early shot that looked like it would give the Blazers an early lead, but it was saved. The Golden Wolves responded with a flurry of shots; Humphries saved two.

Alvernia's persistence paid off and Nate Stoltzfus scored at 21' to put them up 1-0. Just two minutes later, following Dominic Flowers' pass, Connor Kraycik found the back of the net and pushed the lead to 2-0.

Hood stayed on the defensive as the half approached a close.
Ange Simo (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) and
Damiano Laduca (Stephen City, Va./Sherando) led a counterattack that seemed guaranteed to put the Blazers on the board, but Evan Solley made the save. Hood trailed 2-0 at the break.

The Golden Wolves carried their momentum into the second half. Zeke Zambrano got them going with a goal at 47' to extend the lead to 3-0. Flowers picked up his second assist of the match. Hood showed some fight down the stretch but wasn't able to cut the deficit.
