FREDERICK, Md. - Morgan Hackett (Hampstead, Md./Hereford) nets a pair of goals to lift the Blazers higher than Juniata Eagles with a score of 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
Inside the Box Score
Morgan Hackett (Hampstead, Md./Hereford) had a pair of goals and tied the team lead on the season.
Kate Haufe (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) scored Hood's first goal and had two shots on goal.
Emma Massey (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) dished an assist in the first half.
How it Happened
Traffic near the goal started in the first quarter and even with Blazer defenders in goal, the ball found its way off multiple sticks into the goal for an early 1-0 start for the Eagles.
With a pass intercepted deep in Eagles territory, Hood had the 2-on-1 advantage and Emma Massey (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) at the last second dished it to Kate Haufe (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) and Haufe turned and burned the keeper to tie it up just at the start of the second quarter.
The middle of the second quarter brought a penalty corner for Juniata and resulted in a strike from 25 feet out that deflected off the Blazer goalkeeper and yet again off a Hood defender in front of goal but too tough to handle for the 2-1 score.
Later a shot from Haufe rolled up the pads of the Juniata goalkeeper, off a defender, and into the air where Hackett gave a swing above her head and connected with the ball to put it past the goalie for the 2-2 score.
Entering into the late minutes of the match, repeated penalty corners by the Blazers began to get the goalie out of position. Repeated saves by the Dutchman keeper wasn't enough for one last strike by Hackett again to put the Blazers up with 13 minutes to go.
Analysis
Hood had eight corners to Juniata's five.
Shooting was about even with Juniata's six shots faced to Hood's five.
