VIRGINA BEACH, Va. - The Hood College women's lacrosse team defeated the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan University14-3 in nonconference match up.

- Abby Burnette (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) ended the day with a hat-trick for the Blazers.
- Mackenzie Demaio (Urbana, Md./Coronado (Calif.)) scored two goals, dished out two assists, caused one turnover and scooped up one ground ball.
- Julia Gregory (Sussex, N.J./Vernon Twp.) tallied two goals, one assist and had one ground ball in the game.
- Savannah Winpigler (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) had two goals and two caused turnovers for Hood.

How it Happened
- Hood had a fast start, setting up for an eight point scoring run this quarter. In the first minute of the game of and shot by Burnette. Just two minutes later at 12:47 Winpigler scored off an assist by Demaio. The Blazers earned a goal by Gregory of an assist by Demaio. Hood then put on a miraculous offensive scoring run scoring five goals straight in just two minutes. At 7:11 Burnette received her second goal of the game from another assist by Demaio bringing Hood up four points. Gregory revieved her second goal of the game at 6:47 assisted by Burnette. Hood showed its dominace in draw controls as Abbey Bolingbroke (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick), Demaio and Pickett all had sucessfull draw controls that led to goals this quarter. Continuing on with the Blazers' scoring run Demaio scored the sixth goal for Hood, quickly followed up by a score by Pickett. Finally at 5:42 Avery Stanley (Culpeper, Va./Eastern View) scored the eighth goal for Hood off a Winpgler pass closing out the scoring in the first quarter 8-0 in favor of Hood.
- The Blazers began the second quarter similar to the first scoring early and setting up for another scoring run. In the first two minutes of the second Meghan Welker (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) found the back of the net taking advantage of an extra man opportunity following an Virginia Wesleyan yellow card. Then just three minutes later Katy Przybocki (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) scored a map-up goal for the Blazers. A minute following this goal at 8:03 Burnette scored her second of the game off an assist by Welker putting Hood up 11 goals. Welker added on another assist this time off a goal by Laney Goldrick (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) at 4:20. The Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan University would not go scoreless as Madison Pfister cut the Blazers 12 point scoring run going into the second half 12-1.
- Hood made a goalie change to start out the third quarter adding Anderson to the mix. Upon entering the game Anderson was tested three times saving each ot the Marlins' shots. Then at 6:13 Winpigler scored once again for the Blazers off a Stanley assist giving Hood a 13-1 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
- In the final quarter of play Virginia Wesleyan managed to put together two scoring sequences where Helen Kennedy-Butler found the back of the net twice making it a ten goal differential. Finally, following a draw control by Kayla Russell (Elkton, Md./Northeast) Demaio scored her second goal of the game and ended the games scoring with a final of 14-3 in favor of the Blazers.
