How it Happened – Elizabethtown
The first set started off evenly with Hood holding a slight 5-4 edge after a kill by
Adam Bartice (Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson), but a 6-1 run from Elizabethtown gave the Blue jays their first lead. Although the Blazers kept it close, they could not outpace Elizabethtown before they took the set.
The Blue Jays started the second set with a hot hand with a 7-1 run, extending their lead to 10 with a 17-7 advantage. Hood did not find its footing as the set went on with Elizabethtown ending the set on a 6-1 run.
Both squads played well to start the third set as the Blazers again found themselves with a slight 11-10 lead, but the Blue Jays came alive with a 12-1 run to take a commanding lead before completing the sweep.
How it Happened – Neumann
Hood found themselves in a 9-6 deficit early on, but back-to-back aces from Seely helped the Blazers rally back to take an 11-9 advantage. The Knights quickly retook the lead with a 4-0 run of their own, and despite Hood's best efforts to get back in the
lead, they could not string together a good enough run as Neumann took the first set.
The Knights jumped out to a 6-1 lead early in the second set, and the Blazers managed to get within three with a 10-7 disadvantage, but Neumann got hot with a 10-3 run and did not let Hood get close to put the Blazers on the brink.
Neumann kept its foot on the gas to start the third set, pulling out to a 10-2 lead right away. The Knights would maintain their eight-point lead for the rest of the set, finishing the sweep with a 5-1 run.
