GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Hood College women's lacrosse team took down the Knights of Arcadia University11-9 in nonconference matchup.
Inside the Box Score
- Kayla Russell (Elkton, Md./Northeast) ended the day with a hat-trick for the Blazers.
- Mackenzie Demaio (Urbana, Md./Coronado (Calif.)) dished out five assists, scored two goals and caused one turnover.

How it Happened
- The Blazers got the ball rolling early with a six-goal run in the first quarter. Hood scored its first at 13:36 with an Abby Burnette (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) goal and an assist by Demaio. Russell then put two in the back of the net at 11:49 and 8:21 with assists curtsey of Demaio and Avery Stanely. A minute later Demaio scored her first goal of the day followed up by an eight-meter score by Brooks. Lastly, Russell capped out the scoring run with her third goal on the day. Then before the quarter came to a close Arcadia's Sarah Morris put the knights on the board. Heading into the second quarter the score was 6-1 in favor of Hood.
- The next quarter started out much like the first with multiple scores for the Blazers. Savannah Winpigler (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) began the quarter taking advantage of a man-up opportunity scoring her first of the day off a Demaio assist. Two minutes later Julia Gregory (Sussex, N.J./Vernon Twp.) found the back of the net scoring off another assist by Demaio. The Knights would go scoreless this quarter as they responded with two back-to-back goals of their own. Then at 6:15, Demaio scored an eight-meter goal bringing Hood up 9-3 going into the second half.
- In the third quarter of play both teams' defenses showed strength as neither team would find a goal until there were 4:43 minutes left in the quarter as Morganne Dee scored a goal for Arcadia. Morris then followed up with another score for the Knights at 3:35. The scoreboard read 9-5 heading into the final quarter of play.
- The fourth quarter opened up with a score for Arcadia after an Olivia Poley goal. Brooks then responded two minutes later with a goal of her own. The Knights would put together a comeback bid going on a three-goal scoring run until Stanley scored once more for Hood giving the Blazers a two-point cushion. At the end of regulation, the scoreboard read 11-9 in favor of Hood.
