FREDERICK, Md. - Joe Alexander (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) completed eight shutout innings in Friday's conference win against Alvernia 3-0.
On the Mound

Joe Alexander (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) tossed eight shutout innings allowing only four hits and one walk while striking out seven.
-
Harrison Ludington (Woodbridge, Va/Forest Park High School) got the save in the final inning, only allowing one hit and striking out two.
At the Plate
-
Stephen Sommer (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
-
Keegan Brennan (Lake Wynonah, Pa./Nativity BVM) went 2-for-3 with a run, an RBI, and drew a walk.
-
Jacob Saylor (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) 2-for-4 with a double and scored a run.
How it Happened
-
Alexander found himself in trouble in the second inning with runners on second and third but was able to strike out the last batter to end the threat.
-
The Blazers finally eliminated the vacancy on the bases with a Rhue fielder's choice and a Brennan double. Sommer then shot one back at the pitcher that made it to centerfield to clear the bases for a 2-0 lead. Although two more baserunners would find themselves in scoring position, Alvernia's Jason Kelly would hold Hood.
-
The following inning consisted of more baserunners and Brennan lifted a single over the first basemen and scored Saylor but the following runner Patterson was cut down at the plate.
-
Ludington in his second appearance of the year would strike out the first batter and the second would ground out to the mount. The Golden Wolves mustered up a hit with two outs but a swing-and-miss would close it.
