FREDERICK, MD. - Hood College's baseball team leaned on the pitching staff led by Skylar Albright (Hendersonville, N.C./) to suppress a tough York lineup as the Blazers walk away with a 7-0 win over their conference foe.

Albright blanked the Spartans early as he only allowed four hits in his first five innings of work. The top of the second inning started with two Spartan singles but Albright proceeded to retire the next three batters to end the inning.
-
The walk he issued in the fourth inning was negated with a 4-6-3 double play and the runner on third in the fifth inning was stranded as York's Prendergast grounded out.
-
The Blazers in the bottom of the second put traffic on the bases with a Jenkins single and Austin Rhue (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) reached on an error by the first basemen. After advancing to second and third via a sacrifice bunt by Tyler Schwarzman (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg), a poke through the right side by Stout scored them both and created the 2-0 lead.
-
The seventh inning featured the Blazers batting around the order starting with Rhue single, Schwarzman reaching via error, and Kershow drawing a walk. Keegan Brennan (Lake Wynonah, Pa./Nativity BVM) singled by beating the throw in the infield and scored Schwarzman but the errant throw scored Stout to push the lead 4-0.
-
The Blazers were able to add a couple more runs on the board and hold off York with help from the bullpen with momentum into the weekend. The Blazers will play the doubleheader Saturday, a single game against Gettysburg on Sunday, and then a home game on Tuesday against St. Mary's.
